It's pretty obscene to use a man's murder, and many many other murders, and many many other incidents of brutality to argue for more funding for police forces that have military weapons. How about selling the tanks to raise the money for those poor poor cops, making in the $80,000s in most major cities. (You forgot to figure in that rural police bring down the average you use, as does the gross disparity in male and female salaries.) You also forget to mention that the police busy themselves harassing people over small petty crimes, ignore the crimes of rape and spousal abuse most of the time, do little if anything regarding robbery or burglary, and always ignore white collar financial crimes. Police departments should be defunded unless and until they can no longer afford military grade weapons and unless and until they start enforcing real laws that matter and not petty $20 crimes, selling loose cigarettes, driving or walking down the street while black.
