Trump Proclaims Kristallnacht

And The Media Reports it Like an Alternate Tax Plan

Well, happy birthday to me. I’m 65 today. One would think it would be all chocolate cake and Medicare, but nope. I woke up to a rerun of the Holocaust. Over the weekend, Trump proposed a rerun of Kristallnacht. Trump says it’s a crackdown on crime, but he’s making up crimes, just like they did to incite pogroms, Kristallnacht, and the Holocaust.

Young people and some media outlets call it The Purge after some recent movies and a television series, but I don’t think that gets to the horrific reality that this has happened before in real life, and Trump is inciting a mob to do it again.

In a prior post, I described Trump’s and Vance’s blood libel against immigrants and how Roseanne Barr and Tucker Carlson pushed that into a real blood libel. And I’ve written about Republicans' dog whistles to Nazis, and dog whistles and outright racism against Black people. Trump attached his most recent call to violence to a lie about crime in California.

I think it’s fair to come right out and say it: Republicans are telling us they want mass vandalism, destruction, and murder. They’ve incited and armed their mob, and now they want to do it. And they’re using lies to promote it.

Now, I wonder how average Republicans are processing this. I imagine some deny it. No, of course, he’s not talking about…. That’s a frequent reaction from the tax cut crowd. But, to my not-so-surprise, the tax cut…
